⠀18xx⠀ in the northwestern region of italy, a minority group of "beings" reside. they had no name to the public, in fear of being killed by the catholic church. they were considered worshippers of the devil, though they only lived to serve nature and protect its laws.
⠀⠀↳ some were descendants from salem, others congregated from different regions of europe. they all lived quietly within the country, trying to live as normally as possible. they traveled to Triora each month to strengthen their powers, whether it be through spell casting or channeling amongst one another.
⠀⠀↳ the purpose of these beings were to be servants of balance. dark magic was prohibited; those who tried were banished from the coven. some were reported to the church to be killed. they must protect themselves in order to survive.
⠀1996⠀ the beings spread across the land, a good few in florence. there weren't many objects to channel energy from in the city, aside from religious buildings like the duomo di firenze. the beings coincided with human existence perfectly. their rules stated that they were to keep their practices away from the public, scared that they'd be killed if the religious beings discovered their existence.
⠀⠀↳ the d'amori maiden was chosen to be the proxy for the beings. she was a young witch, not knowing much about her powers until the coven called her to order. the coven leader's son was betrothed to her, honoring his family's wishes to strengthen their bonds.
⠀⠀↳ she was pregnant with their first child (later to be known as evangelo) which brought the coven joy. the head witch, however, had other plans for the child. she wanted to create another fetus, identical to evangelo, but had the primary purpose of being a doppelgänger.
⠀⠀↳ why are doppelgängers important to the coven? the blood of the doppelgänger will be used to strengthen their spells and allow the coven to channel their energies at a greater length. however, doppelgängers are forbidden by mother nature, because they're man-made beings. they should not exist. those who create them will have grave consequences.
⠀1997⠀ on february 7, 1997, evangelo d'amori was born. a few moments later, icaro d'amori surprised the coven with his arrival. they were not expecting twins. mother nature had different plans for little icaro.
⠀⠀↳ this poor little child was cursed from then on. he's weaker than his brother—maybe not small in size, but physically weak. he has asperger syndrome, something the coven had no idea how to treat. they considered him to be useless to them, having this "malfunction" was not good for their reputation. they wanted him gone. they only wanted evangelo.
⠀⠀↳ the d'amori maiden was torn, considering both children were still her blood. though icaro was made in such an unnatural way, she wanted to love him. her husband refused, calling him an abomination to all that is good with their witchcraft. he was satan in the coven's eyes. and he had to be removed.
⠀1998⠀ on the eve of valentine's, the little devil child was left on the steps of the duomo (surprisingly enough, he didn't burn to death). the nuns took the one-year-old in, feeding him and making sure he was calm before calling the local doctor to check his health. the grandfather de laurentis was the local doctor who took care of the religious beings, if needed. he brought his son and his daughter-in-law with him to greet icaro.
⠀⠀↳ han yeoreum was in awe when she saw the precious child. yeoreum had trouble getting pregnant, and if she did, it ended up in a miscarriage. all she wanted was a baby. all she wanted was this little boy. marco de laurentis had the same feeling when he held little icaro in his arms. he was their baby. so they made it official. they adopted icaro and dubbed him "luca de laurentis."

⠀X⠀ bruce is his best friend. he'd do absolutely anything for him. he thinks of bruce very highly and looks up to him, even though bruce is younger than luca.
